Through the power of collective giving, UWA graduates, staff and friends have made a difference in the lives of UWA students and in the broader community.
A special thank you
We launched the SOS COVID-19 Emergency appeal in May 2020 to respond to the urgent needs of our students. We were overwhelmed by the response with more than 500 UWA staff, graduates and community members showing their support – giving over 2,000 students hope and encouragement through financial relief, welfare assistance and messages of support.

Promoting student connectedness, fostering a rich and active community
2020's global pandemic disrupted the way students all over the globe learn and connect outside of the classroom. The UWA Alumni Fund Student Activate! grants were created to support projects that re-connected the students with their community and re-activated the student experience.

Promoting student well-being and support
Believed to be the first initiative of its kind on an Australian campus, The Living Room was launched in late 2020 to respond to the growing mental health problems amongst our students in order to increase well-being as well as providing direct access to the UWA support network for those in need.
