As we welcome students for a new academic year, we have much to celebrate, including the many UWA staff and alumni recognised with Australia Day Honours and with the opening of our campuses in India to look forward to, I feel proud to be part of a vibrant and diverse UWA community.
I know our graduates, staff and students also take great pride in their association with the University. The incredible wisdom and dedication found within our community enriches UWA’s story and serves our founding mission: ‘to advance the prosperity and welfare of the people of Western Australia’.
I’m pleased to share an exciting step forward for our University. Announced this week, we have new brand positioning that celebrates the impact UWA has had over more than 112 years and provides a rallying cry to future students to keep driving change.
While our academic strength and research reputation are well recognised and celebrated by the community, we know there is potential to reshape the way we tell our story to better share how our collective impact, ambition and relevance are positively contributing to local and global issues.
Our new brand positioning is grounded in evidence, insight and a clear view of our future direction. It features engaging stories of research impact, as well as alumni, and I am pleased with how strongly their impact on our global community comes through in the messaging. Throughout the process, we have consulted widely and further shaped the positioning with feedback from University stakeholders including staff, students and alumni.
