My passion

Is about ensuring a positive candidate experience in the Recruitment industry. Through my own recruitment processes, I engage in meaningful conversations with candidates - understanding what their career objectives are, helping them find their career path and also assisting them in answering questions. I also regularly review the recruitment process to improve candidate experience by making the process more efficient, or removing pain points in the application process. In the future, I look forward to improving processes to increase efficiency and increasing communication and interaction with candidates to form strong, meaningful relationships even post-recruitment.

The most interesting aspect

Of my career would be the opportunity to look at Recruitment from a regional perspective. I started out in my career as a Singapore-focused recruiter, meaning that I would only hire for Singapore graduates. Now, I am expanding out to Hong Kong and China markets. This means that I would be speaking to candidates from Singapore, Hong Kong and China simultaneously. This is an incredible opportunity as there is so much to learn from each region - their language, culture, expectations etc. It helps me to grow not only professionally but also personally. In the future, I look forward to also exploring Australian markets.

I appreciated

That UWA had a wide range of modules, it helped me to choose the modules that was interesting to me and beneficial to deciding what I liked about HR and Management. My lecturers and tutors were also important as they were able to share industry relevant experience to help me better understand the material taught, but also to understand market expectations. I was also involved in student societies which allowed me to gain exposure internationally and learn to work with people of different demographics. In my role as a Recruiter, it is important that I learn to work with people of different backgrounds.

I studied

Management and Human Resource Management at UWA where I took modules on Human Resource Management, Staffing Organisations, Negotiation: Theory and Practice, Managing Jobs, Performance and Wellbeing. These modules provided me with knowledge on how to manage relationships, understand performance management and key concepts to building meaningful relationships and understanding people. Being a Recruiter, a core part of my job requires me to be able to understand my candidates fully, and sometimes even look past what they may not be saying.
