The world we live in today is altering in rapid and unprecedented ways

I enjoy connecting with people and am passionate about harnessing the penetrative and transformative power of technology to do good and drive change, through effective communication.

The world we live in today is altering in rapid and unprecedented ways and 6 in 10 people in the world are now online.

As the world becomes increasingly tech-centric and adoption rates continue to soar - no doubt accelerated by the pandemic, I believe that tech stands at the forefront of forging a path toward recovery and plan to harness its endless possibilities to foster deeper connections with the UWA community and prospective students.

The P in Public Relations stands for People

My exhilarating career in Public Relations has spanned a wide spectrum of industries and specializations. From PR and Advertising agencies to Tech Startups and MNCs, and now the dynamic world of E-commerce and hypergrowth - it has been nothing short of an incredible ride and there's more to come yet!

But what's the most interesting aspect of my career thus far you ask? The people, no doubt! I’ve always believed that the P in Public Relations stands for People and if you aspire to inspire (like me), enjoy building quality relationships, touching lives, and driving meaningful and measurable impact in the lives of others - look no further than the far-reaching world of media and communications!

Reflecting on your UWA experience, what aspects were most important for your development?

I’ll start off with a word of appreciation to my dedicated lecturers and tutors, who never failed to make the effort to connect and offer guidance. I especially enjoyed the open communication, pastoral care and insightful sharing which encouraged me to shoot for the stars during my time at UWA.

A special shoutout also to the folks at UWA Social Sports, who allowed me to truly live and embody the whole “work hard play hard” mantra, which I have extended across all aspects of my life today. Finally, this section would not be complete without a special mention of the good ol’ UWA Tavern – heaps of fond memories forged no doubt!

How has your UWA degree helped you in the work you do now?

Interestingly enough, this is actually one of my favourite interview questions for prospective applicants and candidates.

Well, in the media-driven world we live in today, I reckon it has more than adequately challenged me to think creatively and reflect critically while augmenting my abilities to collaborate as part of a high-performing team, solve multi-faceted problems, and of course, manage projects and deadlines effectively.

Beyond the above, I also credit my Arts degree for the integral role it played in moulding and shaping me into the effective and eloquent communicator I am today (if the above blurb is anything to go by).

Who is Cedric Wceke?

A dynamic communications practitioner with 10 years of experience across PR, Corporate Communications, Branding, and Social, I leverage effective results-driven storytelling to enable, empower, educate, and drive commercial impact.

I have worked with brands including the likes of P&G, GSK, Microsoft, HSBC, and Coca Cola, while having my stories covered by global Tier 1 media (BBC, CNBC, CNN, NYT, and Forbes), prominent local dailies (ST, BT, CNA), and regional Trade publications (Campaign Asia, Marketing Interactive, The Drum).

Outside of work, I can usually be found hunched over a smoky dram of single malt whisky and an engaging book, working up a sweat at the gym, or just kicking back with my family.
