What is your passion?

I strongly believe in the rule of law as the basis for a just and fair society. I am fortunate to be able to strive for this in my job as a prosecutor where I seek to ensure justice is done in every case I handle. At the same time, I am also passionate about legal education and find joy in teaching others about the law and how it affects individuals and society at large.

Being an educator

In addition to my day job as a prosecutor, I hold adjunct teaching appointments where I am able to share my legal knowledge with the next generation.

Being an educator has its own satisfaction as, in the course of teaching, I realized that I have as much to learn from my students as they do from me. I encourage students to be active learners, and to challenge the materials I teach – and more often than not there is something I can learn from them.

UWA was invaluable

I resided at Trinity College in UWA which offered the perfect environment for learning and research. It is situated a stone's throw away from the main UWA buildings and offered excellent accommodation, facilities, and food. This allowed me the space and time to focus on my thesis.

UWA also offers a high level of support for research and writing with numerous workshops to brainstorm ideas with other like-minded higher degree students and researchers. The guidance I received from my supervisors at UWA was invaluable.

Develop, formulate, and articulate

The UWA Doctor of Juridical Science is a research-intensive program where you are able to develop your research and writing skills. These are important skills in legal practice and I continue to draw on what I've learnt on a daily basis. The program has allowed also me to develop, formulate, and articulate my thoughts on legal theories and how they apply to affect individuals and society. These have equipped me to become a better prosecutor and also a better educator, and communicator.
