The gardens at UWA are registered with the Australian Heritage Commission and listed on the National Estate. They provide an inspirational learning and teaching environment, a significant tourist attraction, and a beautiful setting for business, community and cultural events.
UWA Friends of the Grounds was established in the year 2000 with four core objectives:
- To encourage the University community and also the wider Western Australian community to take an active interest in the grounds of the University as an important part of the heritage of this State;
- To enhance the profile of the University grounds by developing an annual program of activities;
- To provide information about the grounds through publications, lectures and events;
- To raise funds to assist with special projects relating to the grounds.
