Daniel trained as a lawyer before moving into the vitamin and supplement sector, driven by an unhealthy relationship with food as a child and a desire to bring healthier options to the masses. Now, he’s the creator of Australia’s, and one of the world’s first healthy confectionery brands. Despite FUNDAY’s launch during a COVID-19 lockdown, in just 6 months, Daniel secured national deals in Woolworths Supermarkets, Chemist Warehouses in Australia and New Zealand and is currently selling in Southeast Asia. Daniel is focused on developing the FUNDAY brand globally through engaging key markets who are craving, and not able to access truly healthy confectionery products

Bringing back the FUN(DAY)

FUNDAY is a business that believes in better! We believe that food can be both bomb-digity and bloody good for ya! We believe in a world where food and frivolity are one and the same, where adulting is long-gone because the memories of childhood are regular features in big kids’ lives and when that moment comes, it’ll be one heck of a FUNDAY!

I was driven by an unhealthy relationship with food as a child and a desire to bring healthier options to the masses. I cut almost all added sugar from my diet to lose weight. It worked and I got fitter, but I wanted to bring back the fun factor.

Born from boredom

Months before COVID set in I quit a full-time corporate job and purchased some gummy moulds and ingredients online and started playing around with formulations in my kitchen. Once successful, I was able to secure a national deal with Chemist Warehouse in 450 stores across Australia. This enabled the launch and the first mass production to occur of our 4 products.

We launched in May 2021 and we sold out completely across the entire 450 stores in the first 4 weeks of sale. 3 months after launch I was very blessed to secure another major deal, this time with Woolworths supermarkets across Australia.

We recently signed a deal with Chemist Warehouse NZ, to land our first major international deal which is built off the demand from the international markets for FUNDAY. We are also selling in Singapore and Hong Kong and have had great interest from other parts of Asia, Europe and the USA. We have an incredibly strong e-commerce direct-to-consumer business.

Combining law and gummies

I finished law at UWA 7 years ago and have worked in various companies since then including 4 years in management roles at Lux Group (well known for Luxury Escapes), and roles in health and wellness companies including as Head of Marketing & Sales at the world’s largest vitamin and supplement company, BY-HEALTH Ltd.

While setting up FUNDAY – I set up a consulting company advising to global consulting firms regarding international vitamin and supplement projects. I continue to draw on both university and work experiences often in my day to day, particularly law when it comes to negotiations and contract law.
