How a streaker led to Snackr

Snackr lets fans order concessions and merchandise from on-site vendors for delivery or pick up. The idea for Snackr was born out of a love of the game and came to my Co-Founder Matt Lim while he was waiting in line for drinks at Optus Stadium and missed the stadium’s first-ever streaker! We launched Snackr during the 2020/21 BBL season at Blundstone Arena and have since expanded to operate in 6 new venues across Australia.

The Snackr story to date

We launched Snackr amidst COVID-19 uncertainty so our journey, like many others, has been a bit of a rollercoaster. In March 2020, our team relocated to Hobart to capitalise on the opportunity to launch at Blundstone Arena. After 9 months of lockdowns, capacity restrictions and cancelled events we finally gave BBL fans the Snackr experience in December 2020. Since launching, Snackr has signed 6 additional venues across stadiums, concert and festivals, graduated the Plus Eight Accelerator (a top-tier venture-backed program for leading startups) and generated amazing results for our clients. The next step for us is to continue Snackr’s growth both domestically and internationally.

Using law to solve problems

Before starting Snackr, I worked as a commercial lawyer, which not only gave me the opportunity to work for offices all over the world but solid experience in complex commercial dispute resolution, risk analysis, strategic thinking and problem-solving. Snackr often presents us with new and unique challenges, and I find myself using the skills I developed during my career in law daily to resolve them.

The future of Snackr

Above all, we want to build an exciting company with a supportive and inclusive culture where ambitious people love to work. In terms of business goals, we have ambitions to grow Snackr to compete in larger, more competitive international markets. These goals should see Snackr in the hands of fans all over the world in the next five years.

Landing at UWA

My favourite UWA memory is the year I spent living on campus at St Georges College. I grew up down south and St Georges was my first home in Perth when I started at university. It was the perfect landing place for me and I met some of my favourite people while living and studying there!
